Lose 10lbs In Two Weeks

A little over a year ago I wanted to shed off some pounds and I was able to do it in no time. I didn’t even plan on losing 10 lbs. I just followed a diet & exercise plan with a tea detox and I lost 10 lbs. in two weeks. For this to be effective it’s very important to follow the 80/20 rule. The 80/20 rule is that 80% is what you eat and 20% is exercise. One pound is 3,500 calories. So, if you want to lose one pound per week that’s how many calories you need to burn. However, if you’re following the 80/20 approach, you only need to burn off approximate 700 calories and cut the remaining calories out of your diet; which sounds much easier. The 80/20 rule is much more efficient and it forces you eat healthy foods which are low in calories.

I found the detox tea from Teaglad on Groupon without even looking for it. I’ll add the links at the bottom of the post. When following this detox or any diet, I find it very effective to not have any cheat days. Cheat days are one of your biggest enemies, you’re gaining back at least half of the weight you worked so hard to lose off. I don’t find any benefits in cheat days, especially for a diet this short.

I bought the groupon, followed the instructions on the groupon to get the tea off the website and this is how I spent the two weeks. Note: I drank the Teaglad detox tea 30 to 60 minutes before each meal.

The gym
I went to the gym 5 times per week and I was there for at least an hour. I ran at least 3 miles per day and then off to body weight exercises. The days that I was very tired I just spent an hour on the elliptical or threadmill. The most important thing about this part is that you’re doing some kind of exercise. If you can’t work out for an hour try to do at least 45 minutes. If you can’t or feel too tired to run, then walk on the threadmill or go on the elliptical. Below is an example of a workout schedule. Again, some days I was very tired I just stayed on threadmill or elliptical for an hour and didn’t do any bodyweight exercises. For the body exercises, I kept going back until I reached the 30 or 40 minutes.

Weekends
No gym but I made sure I ate well. NO CHEAT DAYS!

Clean Eating.
This is the most important part of the diet/detox plan. You can lose weight if you follow this well without even going to the gym. However, working out is still important because, when doing this diet, you’re probably eating less and your metabolism may start to slow down. Working out  will boost your metabolism.

This what I did NOT eat: sugars, this means juice, artificial sweentners, syrup, honey, etc; not even if it says it natural sugar.
No alcohol. Not even ciders. Anything with alcohol is a no!
No gluten. I wanted to list things like breads and pastas but I figured all these fall under foods with gluten.
Whole30. The simplest way to summarize this section is that I basically ate as if I was on the whole 30 diets, except I didn’t eat bacon. So no bacon, it’s loaded with calories.

Water! Drinking a lot of water is important for any diet and for everyday life. I drank about 64 ounces of water per day during this detox. How much water you should drink per day: your weight divided by 2. The result is how many ounces of water you should drink per day. For example, if you weight 160 pounds, you should drink at around 80 ounces of water.

Salad dressing. I have trained myself to eat salad without dressing which was very helpful when I did this diet. I recommend no dressing or very natural dressing like a ginger dressing. Or make your own. Sometimes just some olive oil and vinegar will do.

PORTION CONTROL/CALORIES. It’s important to eat the right amounts. Too much of anything is not good for you. You will most likely not lose weight if you eat healthy but eat more than you need.

An example of my daily meal looked like this:.  Breakfast: 2 eggs with peppers & onions. Lunch: Greek salad with grilled chicken, no feta cheese. Dinner: shrimp & spaghetti squash.

Disclosure: The tea was purchased with my own money through groupon.
You can get the tea through groupon or through the company’s website.
